This little light of mine

Trey brought home this artwork and poem about a pumpkin from school today:

Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff- including seeds of doubt, hate and greed. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see. Let your light shine!

Fall Break 2010

"Family faces are magic mirrors. Looking at people who belong to us, we see the past, present, and future." ~Gail Lumet Buckley

Fall Break 2010 was "awesome, awesome, awesome!" according to Samantha. The 1,881 mile scenic road trip took us north to Butler and Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, then east to Baltimore, Maryland, and back towards home through Roanoke, Virginia. The goal of the trip: family fun!

What do pickles, strawberry jam and marshmallows have in common?

Our super talented Aunt K made them with love from scratch! Thank you for sending us home from Asheville with all these home-made goodies! We dedicate these smores to you! XOXO

Summer of Reading

Trey reeeeally loves to read. He spent hours nearly every day, and certainly every single night this entire summer, reading and finishing the last two books from the How to Train Your Dragon series, all of Percy Jackson series and the last four Harry Potter books--no small feat for any human being let a lone an 8 year old! So tonight we dedicate this blog and his last lock of curls (cut off yesterday preparing for first day of school/regulation haircut) to his Summer of Reading.

Spectacular Spectacles

We think Samantha looks spectacular in her new glasses. (That's fancy for great.) Here she is sporting her latest accessory while chewing gum and reading a "Fancy Nancy" book aloud at the same time!
